English Classes
For Arlington Housing Authority tenants & income eligible Arlington residents*

 

English Classes - Beginner & Intermediate Levels

Students will advance in their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Classes are comprehensive and engage students in many different types of learning activities.  

Dates: January 23, 2023 - April 6, 2023

Days/Times:

Beginner class- Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:00 - 10:30am

Intermediate class- Mondays & Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:30pm

Location: Life & Skills Center, Menotomy Manor, Arlington, MA

Student commitment: Students must be able to attend all classes and complete 1 hour of homework per class.

Cost: Class tuition is free. There is a $10 materials fee.

Eligibility: Participants must be low-income Arlington residents (low-income defined as below 80% of Average Median Income. *See table on registration form)

Beginne & Intermediate English Courses

TEAS Test Prep Course
For Certified Nursing Assistants whose primary language is not English

TEAS Test Prep for Certified Nursing Assistants

Are you a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) whose first language is not English? Is your goal to enroll in nursing school or another health-related program?

This 36-hour course will prepare CNAs for the Reading and English Language Usage portions of the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills.) The TEAS is an admissions requirement for nursing programs that can be a barrier to nonnative English speaking applicants.

Dates: December 5, 2022 - March 15, 2023 *excluding holidays

Days/Times: Mondays & Wednesdays, 9:30 - 11:00 AM

Location: The Robbins Library, Arlington, MA

Student commitment: Students must be able to attend all classes and complete 1 hour of homework per class.

Cost: Free. This program is being provided in collaboration with the Arlington Public Libraries by funding from the Town of Arlington's Transformative Growth Grant award. 

Eligibility: Participants must be Certified Nursing Assistants seeking to take the TEAS and advance in their careers.
