English Classes - Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced levels   

(Spring semester- beginner only)

Advance in your English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Classes are fun and comprehensive. Teachers use many different types of learning activities. Attention is given to students' individual learning needs in order to make instruction effective and ensure that students truly progress! 

Dates: May 2, 2023 - June 13, 2023

Days/Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30pm

Location: Arlington EATS, 117 Broadway, Arlington, MA

Student commitment: Students must be able to attend all classes and complete 1 hour of homework per class.

Cost: Class tuition is free. There is a $10 materials fee.

Eligibility: Students must have low income (low income is defined as below 80% of Average Median Income. See table on registration form for details.)

Beginne & Intermediate English Courses

TEAS Test Prep Course
For Certified Nursing Assistants whose primary language is not English

TEAS Test Prep for Certified Nursing Assistants

Are you a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) whose first language is not English? Is your goal to enroll in nursing school or another health-related program?

This 12 week, 36-hour course will prepare CNAs for the Reading and English Language Usage portions of the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills.) The TEAS is an admissions requirement for nursing programs that can be a barrier to nonnative English speaking applicants.

Dates: Enrollment ongoing 

Days/Times: Mondays & Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:30 PM

Location: Virtual class, On-line*

*Students must connect to class using a computer not a phone. Phones will not work for class reading, writing, and learning activities.

Student commitment: Students must be able to attend all classes and complete 1 hour of homework per class.

Cost: Free. This program is being provided through funding from the Town of Arlington's Transformative Growth Grant. 

Eligibility:

  • Certified Nursing Assistants or people employed in patient care and seeking to take the TEAS to advance in their careers. 

  • Participants must have advanced English reading and writing skills. Placement tests will be given. Other learning opportunities are available for students who do not yet place into this class level.
